The Third Annual Army Base Race | Half Marathon
The 2nd annual race in Selah had huge growth from its first year. The event featured 548 runners from all around the Pacific Northwest, and several Japanese military runners. The Yakima Training Center provided a tank for display and pictures. Vendors were on hand selling goods and promoting their product and services. Thank you to Brooks Running, Advocare, Selah Fitness Express and Selah Physical Therapy for being part of this event. Also a huge thank you to our sponsors for providing much needed support of this event. Les Schwab, Pingrey Ford, Pepsi and Extreme Photography, without you this would not have been possible.
Runners began the half marathon at 8:00am and the top finisher was Tomokazu Tsubouchi of the Japanese military with a time of 1 hour and 15 minutes. Karin Kupp was the top women's finisher with a time of 1 hour 32 minutes. The Cadet 5K began shortly after the half marathon and the top finisher, Gram Vaux, ran a time of 15 minutes 27 seconds. The female overall winner was Gabriela Aguilar with a time of 21 minutes 12 seconds. Among the several hundred adult runners there were also several youth participants from ages 7 – 17. Jack Espinoza, 15 minutes and 29 seconds and EDrica Simison 21 minutes and 27 seconds were the top finishers for the boys and girls divisions. Congratulations to all the runners who completed their race.
